Evelyn Pyle Wheeler

	Evelyn Pyle Wheeler died Monday, October 29, 2001 at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.  Mrs. Wheeler was born  April 3, 1923 in DuQuoin to the late Harley and Esther Miller Pyle.  She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Dr. William W. Wheeler.
	Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her son, Wayne and wife Frankie of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter Elaine and husband Alan Sanner of Charleston, South Carolina and daughter Linda and husband Ronald Chambers of Marco Island, Florida; granddaughters, Beth Luther and Amy (Mrs. Scott Wilford) and three great grandchildren, all of Pennsylvania.
	After graduation from Pinckneyville High School in Illinois and Pembroke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and the University of South Carolina with a Master of Arts in Education, Mrs. Wheeler worked with the Department of Social Services as a Social Worker.  During her lifetime she was active in various civic and community organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pilot Club of Dillon, Yellow Jessamine Garden Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dillon where she was also a member of the Ladies Circle.
	The family received friends at Kannadays Funeral Home in Dillon, South Carolina Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
	Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery directed by Kannadays Funeral Home of Dillon.
